Distribution

The husband is talking with CDBaby people. Thank goodness for companies like them. How could I ever lick that many envelopes to mail out CD’s myself? I love ya’ll, but COME ON! Did you hear about the postal worker that apparently licked an envelope that had roach eggs on it? They apparently embedded in her…

Planning the party…

Spoke with my caterer today, Les Naiman. He’s fabulous-FABULOUS! (and a little shout-out to his fabulous wife, MJ, too!) Can’t wait to see what he’s coming up with for the menu at the release party…….

And the judges say…

I’m so beyond blessed. The in-laws previewed the album and were beyond generous with their sweet, sweet comments and compliments. The fun thing for them is that the wedding songs from each of their sons’ weddings (ours included) are on the album: “Entwined”, “Forever Green” and “Hero”.

Song 1… Song 2…

I love my man’s attention to detail. He’s really quite a snob about this (which is only to say that he knows how to take something good and make it incredible). He came up with the order of songs. I know this will satisfy the other snobs out there and subliminally will placate the rest…

On to mastering

Word has it tracks are on their way to Mike Haynes (440 Digital Mastering) for mastering.Technology is truly amazing. If BJ can make me sound good, Mike will just launch this through the roof!

Respite

Everyone needs a vacation. Leaving this week — can’t wait! The sand, ocean waves, and sunrise inspire…

Up all night

It is mind-baffling to me how the little details can keep me up all night! Trying to decide what art work on top of the actual CD SHOULD look like! Will keep you posted…….

New artwork

Decided on the snowy path for the album cover! I really do love it. I think that path beckons and draws a person to wonder “What is on this CD?”

CD Release Party Prep

Put down a deposit on “The Iron Bell”, a super cool place that our friend’s, the Dedrick’s, currently have a ministry center. (insert link to the Iron Bell). What a fantastic place to have a release party for Hearing Winter. We settled on Nov. 2, which will be a perfect time considering it is right…

Editing work…

Finalizing edits today. This process takes so long. I think BJ and I worked for 2 hours on ONE SONG! Just equalizing the attacks and pedal. Fixing little tweaks……a little delay here, a bit of a tone down there. After a while, I felt like I didn’t really know how to play the piano!!!!

“Entwined”

Finished arranging and rough recording of “Entwined” Sent it to brother-in-law. He said he would play it for Kimberly on their date night and her bday celebration.

I’d like to thank the Academy…

Wrote all my acknowledgements today. I’m a writer, so it’s very, very, very hard to condense this thing into a space so tiny! If you feel you should have been included in the liner notes/acknowledgements-please know you were there but possible edited out. Our amazing editer, Joseph, has helped so much in this area. Three…

Working on wedding tune

My other brother-in-law, Matthew, came over today to lay down the song HE wrote for his beautiful bride (my Kimberly!-I looooove you!!) on their wedding day. I asked him last week if he would be willing to let me put his song on the album. I can’t wait to work on this. He did an…

Cold, cold, cooold

Is it any surprise that on the COLDEST day of the year (20 degrees!!!!!), we have a photo shoot. I guess now that I’ve decided to do an album of all instrumental based on my “Hearing Winter” song that this is appropriate.  One of my best-ies, Lee-Anne, came and did the shoot. She is such…

Project adjustment

Producer is encouraging me to do two separate albums. I think he’s on to something. We have enough songs both vocal and instrumental to have two different albums that I think this will work! Exciting!!!!

Progress!

Beautiful! Beautiful! My producer had the violinist and cellist come in today to lay down tracks on “Putting Away”, “Hearing Winter” and “Heavenly Father”. The thrill of hearing the music finally come out of a real instrument and not just my head and garage band is beyond thrilling. Sitting and hearing AND feeling the vibration…
